The country I am researching addresses cultural diversity through their population. Israel has a large immigration flow with increasing diversity. Most of the Israeli immigrants are Jewish and they share rich origins and cultures. Although most of the Israeli’s are jewish there is a strong representation of each religion in the country. Within the country, they address cultural diversity but having the religions prominent and they all have their safe space for each group.
Israel’s biodiversity issues are related to the idea of threats to cultural diversity with the issues of protecting the biodiversity and functioning of natural ecosystem. I do believe that governing bodies should be actively involved in protecting cultural diversity because if the government does not get involved then the land is own personally. I think with biodiversity, the government should regulate this especially with the conflict Israel currently has with protecting the land. It would be best for the government to be apart of this process. There are divisions in the culture within Israel that divides the Jewish majority between their different practices, like Orthodox, Conservative and Reform Judaism. Israel also has different areas and markets that are appropriate to each religion. The Jewish public opinion is split between whether Israel can serve as a homeland for Jews while also accommodating the country’s Arab minorities. As the country is already very controversial as is, I think it is important for the government to help with biodiversity especially related to cultural diversity.
